Walk With Us offers two surreal and poetic augmented reality walks for your smartphone, free to download from the App Store and Google Play.

Join us for the launch event at Newlyn Art Gallery, Thu 14 Jul, 16.00 – 18.00 and meet the artists behind the app. Please bring a fully charged smartphone. You can download the app at the Gallery, and as the walk is outside, please dress accordingly.

Exploring themes of climate change and impermanence, the Newlyn walk, Six Lessons in Tightrope Walking, begins at Newlyn Art Gallery, and leads you to the Jubilee Pool. Using audio, AR, weather and ocean data, it balances the line between celebrating our world as it is now and foreseeing changes. Participants are invited to follow a circus performer on a journey in which jellyfish populate the sky and she walks upon the headland, whilst funnel clouds billow across the sea.

Created by artists Alex Peckham, Maya Chowdhry and Sarah Hymas in collaboration with the National Oceanography Centre, each walk lasts around 45 minutes. The walk has AR visuals and spoken audio throughout, so headphones are recommended for the experience

Exploring themes of coastal erosion and climate change, Six Lessons in Walking a Tightrope is for everybody interested in the sea, what lives in it, and how it affects us.
