SUMMER CRAFT SESSIONS

WEEKLY SESSIONS IN AUGUST LED BY ARTIST AND EDUCATOR MAYA RONCHETTI FOR 6 – 11 YR OLDS

Each session will begin with a Cornish myth followed by a craft activity relating to the themes of the tale. Children are encouraged to bring their imagination, wear old clothes, and be open to the magic. Each session will be based around a poem written by Adrian Rodda; a Cornish poet who writes poems based on local folk tales and Cornish myths.

AGGIE & BOLSTER’S HEALING HERBS

Bolster the Giant is a myth about a giant who lives on the North Coast of Cornwall. Bolster eats really unhealthy and gets a terrible tooth infection but is healed from receiving medicine from a local healer known as Saint Agnes. In the poem Giant Bolster written by Adrian Rodda, Saint Agnes creates a drinkable potion from mint, sage, lavender, garlic, thyme, honey and apple cider vinegar and a skin ointment from linseed, arnica and borage. In this workshop, Maya will read the poem and the children will be carefully guided through the making of these two potions.

Children are advised to wear old clothes.

£10 per person, all materials provided. To book please email Maya at [email protected]
