Creative Connections Cornwall aims to connect young people living in Cornwall with a nationally renowned contemporary artist to explore the National Portrait Gallery Collection. Together, the young people and the artist will create new collaborative responses to portraits of notable people from or connected to Cornwall and Penzance.

We have been working with students from Mounts Bay Academy in Penzance to select portraits from the National Portrait Gallery Collection. We are now looking for an artist to work with the students to develop new ideas and artwork through a series of creative workshops based on their own practice and informed by this selection.

Using a co-production framework, the artist will work with the Mounts Bay students towards the developing of new work and an exhibition, to be shown at The Exchange June to Sept 2022.

The project starts immediately, in Nov 2021.

The artist fee is £8,000 plus a budget for travel & accommodation and artwork production of £2,500 each.
