The Craft Behind Surfing

Surf School seeks to show surf culture as a respected craft form, presenting a selection of designers, photographers and filmmakers  who have made surfing their business,  and craftsmen who capture the balance between design and nature.

Otter Surfboards will be in residence, demonstrating the skill of making a wooden board, and Finisterre will share the process of designing a wetsuit. The exhibition will also delve into the origins of cold water surfing with the film I Knew Jack O’Neill by Hamblin Imagery, a film about Skewjacks, the legendary surf village, and A Road Through Galicia by Luke Pilbeam.

There will be works by local photographers who focus on surfing, including Dave Muir, Luke Pilbeam and Jack Johns. There will also be daily workshops and demos, including how to make surf wax.
