SUMMER CRAFT SESSIONS

WEEKLY SESSIONS IN AUGUST LED BY ARTIST AND EDUCATOR MAYA RONCHETTI FOR 6 – 11 YR OLDS

Each session will begin with a Cornish myth followed by a craft activity relating to the themes of the tale. Children are encouraged to bring their imagination, wear old clothes, and be open to the magic. Each session will be based around a poem written by Adrian Rodda; a Cornish poet who writes poems based on local folk tales and Cornish myths.

THE MERRY MAIDEN’S MUSIC

The Merry Maiden’s is a Myth based around music and dance where dancing maidens turn to stone and form the ‘Merry Maidens’ stone circle near Penzance.

In this workshop Maya will read Demelza, the Merry Maiden, a poem written by Adrian Rodda and the children will create instruments from recycled materials, shells and driftwood imagining that these are the instruments that the maidens danced to when they froze.

Children are advised to wear old clothes.

£10 per person, all materials provided. To book please email Maya at [email protected]
