Inspired by Eastern European clubhouses for workers, Newlyn Art Gallery will be transformed into an establishment of recreational activity. Hosted by a different Cultural Secretary each week, The Palace of Culture will nourish both body and mind with workshops, performance and other stimulating pursuits designed to fight cultureless leisure.

Each of the four weeks will be programmed by a different Cultural Secretary who will commission a varied selection of activity which could include do it yourself hobby groups, sports, dance, collecting, arts, films, music, literature and amateur theatre.

The first two weeks of The Palace of Culture will be our final contribution to the Tate St Ives’ Circuit programme – Circuit is an artistic programme delivered by and for young people.
