CALL OUT FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

We are looking to commission eight young artists, aged between 17 and 25, from Penzance, Newlyn, and the surrounding area to make work for our temporary, off-site project, Off Grid.

Off Grid is a new site-specific exhibition linking Penzance and Newlyn and will take place during the Penzance Festival of Art 2022, which runs 3 – 19 Jun.

Successful artists will be invited to work with the gallery to create temporary art works which will be installed between Penzance and Newlyn. The selected group of artists will meet one day a week over five weeks across April and May to conduct site visits and develop their ideas and artworks ready to be installed in early June.

Each artist will be awarded a £300 fee along with an additional material budget of £300 plus support and mentoring from the gallery.

Timeline:

  • Deadline for applications, 17:00 on Tue 26 Apr
  • Successful artists notified by 28 Apr
  • First meeting for Off Grid w/c 2 May
  • Install starts w/c 30 May
  • Festival opens on 3 Jun
