Known for her bold, expressive approach to figurative painting, Joffe’s work explores the subtleties of human presence and the complex relationship between subject and observer. She will be joined by a panel of guests, including the British writer Charlie Porter, and the American photographer Lee Mary Manning – both subjects of works featured in the show. The discussion will be chaired by Joffe’s long-term collaborator, the writer Olivia Laing, whose essay The Prince accompanies the exhibition. Together, they will reflect on the themes of the exhibition, from grief and its aftermath to the nuanced interplay between gender, identity, and representation.

“What does it mean to apply the word ‘prince’ to these paintings? What kinds of masculinity does it open up, and what does it foreclose?”The Prince, Olivia Laing, 2025
