Continuing our series of posts recommending other galleries to visit, places to go, and things to do in Penzance and Newlyn.

Penzance has a wealth of independent shops, and for this post Abbey Rumbellow, one of our volunteers, chooses her favourites, for leisurely browsing and shopping after your visit to The Exchange.

 

BARTON BOOKS

Barton Books is an independent bookshop located at the top of Causewayhead, Penzance. It stocks a variety of books, ranging from landscape, art, nature, and place; it also has a wide selection of secondhand books that change intermittently – these are often art oriented (it’s always worth checking out what treasure might be in store!)

Open Tue – Fri,10:00-16:00 & Sat, 10:00-15:00

THE EDGE OF THE WORLD BOOKSHOP

The Edge of The World Bookshop is another independent, quirky bookshop sitauted on the main street of Market Jew Street.  It stocks an extensive collection of genres, including classical novels, poetry, art, fiction, and anything in between. You’re bound to find something that catches your eye and if not, they can order in books in a timely manner.

SEVEN STONES

A recent addition to Penzance, Seven Stones is an independent shop that primarily stocks clothing made by local artisans, as well as a range of homewares, such as luxurious scented candles. It also has a selection of contemporary photographic books, including titles by Steve McCurry and various urban series. With a coffee machine inside too, it’s always worth a browse or simply to pop in for quality coffee.
