MEET AT THE BANDSTAND IN MORRAB GARDENS

Join Felicity Tattersall for an exploratory walking and drawing workshop through Morrab Gardens and Penlee Park in Penzance.

The route will be punctuated with site specific drawing exercises, looking closely at the plants and structures we encounter on our way. Whether these green spaces are familiar or unfamiliar to you, the purpose of this workshop is to take time to observe and draw from nature, through exercises designed to encourage and stimulate, with a focus on mark-making, tonality and layering-up of an image. References to the history of the parks and plant collecting will provide additional context.

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and offers valuable experience for those interested in drawing from observation and freeing-up their way of working.

Drawing materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own sketchbook. Please also bring a water bottle and any snacks you might like – walking and drawing make for thirsty work! A camera or smartphone would also be useful.

This walk is wheelchair-user friendly.
£25 per person, booking essential as places are limited.

Please note: This event takes place outside and will go ahead whatever the weather, so please wear suitable footwear and clothing appropriate to the weather on the day.

This event is part of a series. Inspired by a strong urge to spend time outside in nature and be creative after a long year indoors, we are offering a new workshop walk every month over the summer. Each workshop is led by a different artist and explores a variety of creative techniques in the context of going for a walk.

Morrab Gardens are close to the centre of Penzance, between the main shopping area and the Promenade. There are several car parks close by. For more information or how to find the Gardens see morrabgardens.org/visitors
