FLIGHT AND STONE
Mark Surridge creates still life paintings that explore the relationships between colour, form, and composition. His work feels immediate, with a striking emphasis on colour contrasts – bright natural tones set against vivid synthetic hues.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding terrain, Surridge collects weathered plastics, plants, feathers, and stones, assembling these found elements in his studio to curate carefully balanced, harmonic compositions.
Through his practice, he seeks to uncover an alternative beauty – one that reflects the tension between nature and human impact. His work examines environmental degradation and shifting ecologies, offering a contemplative look at the complex and ambiguous relationship we share with our environment.
All works are for sale, a price list will be available before the exhibition opens.
