HUMPHRY DAVY LANTERN WORKSHOPS
Saturdays in November

Come and make your willow lantern for this year’s Humphry Davy Parade on Sat 15 Dec when we fill Penzance with light to celebrate Sir Humphry Davy, the world-famous scientist and inventor of the miners’ safety ‘Davy’ lamp.

All welcome, U12s to be accompanied by an adult. Free, all materials provided.

This workshop is led by expert withy builder Billy Wynter. He advises to book on two sessions as a minimum to complete one lantern, but you are welcome to finish your lantern at home if you can only come to one session.

These are the options:

1) For a simpler design we will add white cartridge paper to create cut-outs for effectful visuals. To complete one lantern of this design we recommend that you book on two sessions.

2) For more individual/larger lanterns we advise you to either book on two sessions, to make one lantern together with several people, or to book on four sessions to work on one design on your own.

Please contact us for more info on what can be achieved [email protected]

Free, but please book your place on Eventbrite to give us an idea of numbers.

Free Community Workshops in partnership with BID Penzance.
