We are working with Jerwood Arts to deliver six artists’ residencies, collectively known as The Jerwood Newlyn Residency, between 2021 and 2022.
Building on our history as an artist-centred organisation, supporting creative experimentation has been key to our programme, offering the time and space for artists to explore conceptual and practical issues in the gallery. We are expanding this idea to invite practitioners in all media to work across the whole organisation for extended periods. They will be able to explore and develop their own practice in response to the activities and wider mission of the Gallery.
The residency will provide an extraordinary opportunity for artists to develop their own practice with the full support of the wider gallery team and its network. The first two residencies, delayed by Covid19, will begin this summer.
George Morl, based in Essex, will spread his residency over three periods in Penzance: 31 Jul – 15 Aug 2021 and 30 Oct – 14 Nov 2021, with a final month-long visit from June 2022.
