WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE REALIZE THAT WE CAN’T GO BACK TO NATURE?

Radical Ecology invites you to take part in a participatory performance designed by Ashish Ghadiali, Iman Datoo, and Tsitsi Mareika Chirikure. Together you will look at how and why the language of native and invasive species in our gardens has become so pervasive. In a time when global resistance to borders by humans, animals, and plants is on the increase, how far is the language of nativism distancing us from what is happening in our gardens? And what might an alternative vision look like – one that brings us closer to the truth of our planetary existence.

In a small group, participants will listen to and contribute to this questioning. We hope that the participatory performance is the beginning of the building of a network of people who are interested in the language around invasion ecology.

The participatory performance is part of Invasion Ecology – a season of contemporary land art presented by Radical Ecology and Southcombe Barn on Dartmoor and beyond. As a response to ecological crises, the central group exhibition at Southcombe Barn offers possibilities of deeper, more empathic future connections between humans and more-than-human life forms – their landscapes, sense of place, identity and belonging. Participants are encouraged to visit the exhibition, which is on show until 10 Aug 2024.

FREE to attend, and all welcome but registration via email is required.
