The Engine Room, The Exchange
This year’s conference aims to invigorate, inspire and connect – with a focus on strengthening your own creative development to benefit your teaching practice – and includes the following content:
- Portfolio discussion led by educationalist Maxine Whitbread-Abrutat; you are invited to share examples of student work and current classroom challenges with your peers
- Casting and abstraction workshop with artist Alice Mahoney; this is a chance to explore working in 3D, using simple techniques that can be taken back into the classroom
- Guest speaker Dr Rachel Payne, Subject Coordinator for the MA Education: Artist Teacher Practice at Oxford Brookes University, on ways of supporting your artistic practice amidst the pressures of the curriculum
- Peer to Peer sharing session; you will hear from three teachers, spotlighting successful recent projects/experiences
£85, buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day included, booking essential.
The conference will take place in The Engine Room, our newly redeveloped community space, and creative multi-purpose learning studio for all. Designed as a functional art classroom, digital studio, and inspiring social space to gather, The Engine Room aims to be a hub of creativity and ideas at the heart of The Exchange and the wider organisation. Available for use with schools, The Engine Room offers blended digital functionality, enabling users to reach people in the space and those joining in remote locations.
