EMILY NIXON – Stone Drawing Bracelet in Silver

Each link follows the contours of a sea-worn beach pebble, retaining its irregular form. This bracelet is quite literally a sculptural ‘drawing’ of a stone found on Cornwall’s beaches.

“I love the fabric-like twists and folds of seaweed; the diversity in the contours of pebbles.” Emily Nixon

Emily Nixon lives in West Cornwall which has shaped her work. “I love the weathered character of flotsam I see washed up along the shore. This dichotomy of the precious and the organic – special stones encircled by sea-worn fragments of gold – characterises so much of my inspiration.” – Emily Nixon.

In the 1990s Emily once the Director of Newlyn Art Gallery then lead on to her starting to make experimental, sculptural jewellery in 2000.  After studying fine art textiles at Goldsmith’s College Emily spent a postgraduate year at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Art in Poland.
