Volunteers

Delivering a rewarding volunteer programme is a vital part of our mandate at Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange. Our team of volunteers bring energy and creativity to the gallery spaces every day, as they help us deliver a busy programme of exhibitions, events and workshops, and present the public face of the gallery.

Our volunteers have many different motivations, such as gaining experience in a high profile gallery as part of a career in the visual arts, or simply learning transferable skills. It’s also an opportunity to meet like-minded people or to play an active role in the community. However, all volunteers have in common an interest in contemporary visual art which they are able to develop and disseminate through their engagement with people and ideas.

FRONT OF HOUSE VOLUNTEER ROLE
Our Front of House team is responsible for greeting all visitors as they enter, informing them about the  exhibitions, manning the front desk, selling items in the shop and invigilating in the gallery spaces when necessary. This role involves face to face interaction with the public and is one of the most vital roles in the Gallery.

Full day shifts are Mon – Sat, 10.00 – 17.00
Half day shifts are Mon – Sat, 10.00 – 13.00 and 13.00 – 17.00
