TEA, CAKE & ART: THE WHOLE CAKE CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN

A BIG thank you to everyone who supported Tea, Cake & Art: The Whole Cake this Christmas. Together, we raised an incredible £3,924.75!

This generous total is a fantastic start to our 2025 fundraising efforts for Tea, Cake & Art, a programme that costs £12,000 annually. Our Christmas fundraising will also attract match funding, further boosting our impact. We’re especially grateful to Councillors Marrington and McKenna for their contributions from the Councillors’ Community Grant pot.

If you’ve ever walked past The Exchange on a Tuesday, you might have wondered what’s causing all the laughter in The Engine Room. It’s likely the group of older people enjoying Tea, Cake & Art—chatting, creating art, and simply having a great time together. As our little film shows, they’re thriving in this welcoming and creative environment, accompanied, of course, by plenty of tea and cake.

“I like to be with other people, being creative… the pleasure in seeing what others produce!”

Since 2019, our Tea, Cake & Art sessions have provided a free, weekly creative and social outlet for older people who feel isolated or lonely. These sessions foster friendships, connection, and creativity, all while offering refreshments and a supportive community.

“I’ve met so many people that I love being with!”

There’s growing recognition of the role Creative Health plays in keeping our minds active and sharp. Our group has experienced firsthand how participating in creative activities together enhances mental and physical well-being, promotes independence, and helps them feel valued and connected to the wider world.

“They’re great company, and we’re involved in something creative. I think it saved me, quite honestly.”

We welcome individuals aged 65 and over who may feel isolated or lonely, whether due to living alone, grief, caregiving responsibilities, anxiety, or health challenges. We also warmly welcome people with dementia and their carers, as well as carers attending alone.

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from this uplifting group, please get in touch with Bettina at [email protected].

We’re still welcoming donations, and we’d love to discuss sponsorship opportunities with local businesses who want to support this wonderful project. Please contact Tamsin at [email protected].

YOU CAN STILL DONATE HERE

Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
